Number 1 ranked Division 6-a La Cueva first half of Friday's game with West Mesa was much more competitive against La Cueva than anyone expected as reported by the Albuquerque Journal.
However, West Mesa paid dearly for awakening a sleeping giant and growling bears as during a lopsided third quarter that saw La Cueva score three consecutive touchdowns without a Mustangs possession and clawed a victory into their rankings. That essentially removed any remaining drama from what turned out to be a Bears victory at Nusenda Community Stadium on Friday night.
