There is a 75% Containment of Moser Fire Near Cloudcroft, the Blue 2 Fire near Ruidoso, is still under evacuation orders with the next briefing for 7 p.m.
Moser Fire Update, May 24, 2024 at 3:45 pm as reported by the U.S. Forestry Service is that the Moser Fire is at 75% containment.
The fire began May 20, 2024, approximately 3:45 p.m. The Cause is unknown and under investigatio. The size is now 96 acres burned.
Location: 4 miles east of Cloudcroft
Resources: 1 Hotshot Crew, 1 Type 2 Crew, multi-agency engines, Volunteer Fire Department Crews. The Types of vegetation in the area (aka fuels): Mixed Conifer
Containment: 75%
Strategy: Full Suppression
Road Closures: None
Smoke: Light
Evacuations: None
Update: The Moser Fire has increased to 75% containment and remains at 96 acres.
Crews continue to monitor lines and look for hot spots and ensure the fire line is secure, moving directly within the perimeter to continue control measures.
With the upcoming anticipated wind events, crews will focus on ensuring hotspots are addressed and all lines are secure. Crews will remain on scene throughout tomorrow, when red flag conditions are expected in the area.
Glowing hotspots may be visible within the secured lines in the evening, which is normal and to be expected after an incident – it is not cause for alarm.
