Effective immediately, Sitting Bull Falls Recreation Area, a historic recreation site located in the Guadalupe Ranger District in the Lincoln National Forest will be closed at the access point due to ongoing staffing shortages.
The Lincoln National Forest is currently looking into solutions to fully staff the recreation site, and quickly enforce a plan that will allow the site to reopen. The site will be monitored during this time.
“We have currently exhausted all avenues to keep the Sitting Bull Falls Recreation Area open at this time,” said Jennifer Thomas, District Ranger for the Guadalupe Ranger District, Lincoln National Forest. “In order to prevent safety and health issues, we will be temporarily limiting access to the falls. Normal hours will resume as soon as possible.”
An announcement will be made to the public once the gates are reopened and regular hours resume.
The Forest is accepting applications for camp hosts for the area, which would allow normal hours to resume immediately. Interest parties can contact Jennifer Thomas at (575) 630-3010 for more information, as well as available dates for hosting Sitting Bull Falls.

Another failure of Representative John Block who's responsibility IS to find solutions to our problems. Instead he raises money to fund his gay live in love's attempts to 'get elected' so he can have a job. VOTE BLOCK OUT.
