Children’s Theater of Alamogordo Auditions for Wizard of Oz

The Children's Music Theater of Alamogordo’s Fall, 2023, show will be “The Wizard of Oz” per a social media announcement.

The vision of Children’s Music Theater of Alamogordo is to bring art and theater literacy to the young people in our community by giving them the experience of performing live theater, dance, and music onstage. They strive to enrich their lives by giving them the opportunity to participate in the many varied aspects of theatrical performance (set construction, painting, props, stage make-up, costumes, etc.), giving them a positive creative outlet, teaching them public speaking skills, giving them the opportunity to build lasting friendships, and encouraging them to learn the value of teamwork.

Shows

Children’s Music Theater of Alamogordo’s past shows, “A Child is Born,” “Narnia, the musical,” “Alice in Christmas Land,” “Orphan Train,” “The Hobbit, a musical", and “Willy Wonka Jr.,” have given many local young people the chance to participate in the different aspects of theater – on stage, helping backstage, building sets, painting, etc. The children learn valuable life-applicable lessons, are making memories, and are building friendships that will last a lifetime, all in a wholesome, family-involved setting.

Here are the dates & information you’ll need to know:

Workshops & Auditions will be at the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts

August 14 at 6pm - Free “How to Audition” workshop

PLEASE ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP IF YOU HAVEN’T AUDITIONED FOR US BEFORE

August 15 & 17 at 6pm - AUDITIONS (open to children aged 7 - 17 years old )

1. Recite a Memorized 30-60 second monologue

2. Sing a Memorized 30 second selection from a show tune (must be from another musical)

3. Dance a choreographed step (taught by our choreographer at auditions)

Stage Crew -

1. Must be over 12 years old

2. Must come to auditions and fill out a form
