Roadrunner Emporium & ReneFit NM Introduce a New Series New York Avenue Activities for April & May 2023

Roadrunner Emporium and ReneFit New Mexico partners along with the merchants of New York, Otero Arts Inc, New York Art and Music Studio and others to provide a new series of events and classes for April and May 2023.

April kicks off with New York Avenue hosting the April 7th Downtown Nights event with food trucks live music and more. Roadrunner Emporium is hosting a very exclusive showing of 25 paintings created by nationally acclaimed Film Maker and Artist Ed Breeding. Mr. Breeding will be on hand at 928 New York Avenue 6 pm to 8 pm for a meet the artist event. In addition there will be live music by Lenore Whitney, old fashioned spinning wheel demonstration by Linda Swenson and more. All Merchants are open till 8 pm and each are hosting special events or special prices. Venues such as the Local Bodega, Victoria Alamogordo, Pins and Needles, Mia's Collectibles, Globug and others will be hosting special offers the evening of April 7th.

April 8th Roadrunner Emporium, KALHRadio and a host of others are sponsoring Alamogordo's largest and most engaging car show hosted by Johnny Vasquez at the end of 10th Street across the bypass on West 10th Street. The Car Show is titled "I Can't Drive 55 and will showcase a very large collection of classic cars , with live music by Sage Gentlewing, give aways to include Hot Wheels for the kids, food trucks and more.

April 13th and again on May 11th, at 1 pm Roadrunner Emporium introduces its New York Avenue District Art and Murals Walk. Join Chris Edwards as he explores with participants the artwork and artistic elements to 928 New York Avenue, and then takes participants through the back allies to see the murals being created within the District, after viewing the murals of the 800 and 900 block of New York Avenue, the tour will walk through Founders Square to discuss the artists and the murals on display, then onward to discuss public art at the Courthouse and the County Commission Building, then New York Art and Music Studio at 1120 New York Avenue and the walking concludes at Otero Arts at 1118 Indiana for their monthly exhibition, then back to Roadrunner Emporium. The fee for the tour is $10.00 and includes a beverage and lasts about 2 hours. RSVP is preferred to call or text 707.880.6238.

On April 15th and May 20th, at 10:30 AM Roadrunner Emporium presents the infamous New York Avenue, Ghost and History Tour. This tour was showcased in the April Edition of New Mexico Magazine and has had over 350 participants since its inception. This is a comprehensive 4-to-5-hour tour of several historic buildings, ghost stories and legends and includes lunch. The fee is $20 RSVP is REQUIRED for this tour to ensure lunch.

April 20th and May 9th, 6pm Roadrunner Emporium has partnered with ReneFit New Mexico and will be host an introduction to Pickleball Class. Pickleball is the fasted growing sport in America for adults and the elderly. Coach Rene Sepulveda will host an introduction to the basics of Pickleball. Open for all ages. RSVP is required and participants need to bring their own equipment. Fee is $10 with own equipment. $25 if we are to provide take home racket and ball. RSVP by calling 7078806238.

April 24th, 11 am, Roadrunner Emporium presents a self-publishing, a layman's guide to getting your works published on via Kindle Direct Publishers. The class fee is $10 and includes a workbook.

April 25th, 6 pm Roadrunner Emporium & ReneFit New Mexico Coach Rene Sepulveda presents an introductory stretch and walk workshop. A proper stretch with a short brisk one mile walk around the neighborhood of New York Avenue ensures fitness when guided by a core body expert. Coach Rene Sepulveda is a retired NCAA Track and Field Coach and Core Rehabilitative Fitness Coach having taught elite Olympic athletes to seniors as old as 96 the importance of core fitness.  This class is open to all ages, a fee of $10 and RSVP is preferred 707.880.6238

May 5th the merchants of New York Avenue and Roadrunner Emporium will host the grandest Cinco De Mayo Festival to hit New York Avenue in years. The street will be closed off, DJ Majik of New Orleans and DJ Fletch will host the street party from 5 pm to 10 pm. Bud Light will be hosting a street tap party and more. 

And finally, Saturday May 13th from 10 am to 4 pm New York Avenue will again be closed off for an Old-Fashioned Street Carnival. The street will be closed off for ring toss, old fashioned street games, face painting, live music, food trucks and more. A carnival atmosphere from a long ago era of New York Avenue. Bring the kids and let's have some fun!
