U S Border Patrol El Paso Sector Apprehensions

US Border Patrol El Paso Sector agents kept busy intercepting 16 different smuggling schemes with 95 smuggled migrants this past weekend. Most of these schemes were intercepted in Deming & Las Cruces’ area of responsibility.

Together, Las Cruces & Truth or Consequences Station agents working the I-25 checkpoint made a cash seizure of $34,100 after a K-9 alert and consensual inspection of the vehicle. The driver admitted to operating as an unlicensed currency courier for a smuggling organization and to be paid 4% of total currency amount.

The Lordsburg Station stayed busy, last 3 days, with countless foiled smuggling schemes. Agents intercept 14 separate smuggling events w/ 80 smuggled migrants that entered the US illegally through the remote southern New Mexico desert. The drivers were primarily U.S. Citizens.
The Santa Teresa Station’s Anti-Smuggling Unit & TX DPS interdict 1 driver with 18 smuggled migrants crammed inside a vehicle. Migrants were found to be wearing foam on the bottom of their shoes in an effort to evade detection.

El Paso Sector’s Anti-Smuggling Units continued to interdict stash houses with the assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety. A total of 103 smuggled migrants were intercepted inside two different dwellings after following a lead from information received. Thus far this FY2023, 95 stash houses with over 1,200 smuggled migrants have been located.

Santa Teresa Station ATV units are indispensable as this station continues to be one of the busiest in the southwest border. ATV agents successfully intercept a group of 44 migrants shortly after breaching the border barrier & making an illegal entry into the U.S.
