Saturday morning reports began to spread on social media sites of a shooting near College Street and a person found dead.
The Alamogordo Police Department confirmed those reports that, the morning of July 2, Augustine Moreno, 16 years of age was found dead at a residence on the 2000 block of Dewey Lane in Alamogordo.
Moreno's death was ruled a homicide by Alamogordo Police.
Alamogordo Police responded to the Dewey Lane residence at around 6 am on July 2 for a welfare check and found Moreno deceased, Accor to statements and documents from the police.
The 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Unit was activated to assume command of the investigation due to the potential of it being a homicide investigation.
