Otero Arts is proud to present a reading by New Mexico author Philip Connors on Friday, January 16, at 6:00 PM at Otero Artspace, 12th and Indiana Ave, Alamogordo.Mr Connors has been a fire lookout in the Gila National Forest for the past 23 years. He has written for many periodicals, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the London Review of Books, and the Paris Review.
He is the author of four books: Fire Season, All the Wrong Places, A Song for the River, and The Mountain Knows the Mountain. His work has won the National Outdoor Book Award, the Reading the West Award, the Sigurd Olson Nature Writing Award, and the Grand Prize at the Banff Mountain Book Festival.
Prior to becoming a fire lookout, he worked for several years on the arts page of the Wall Street Journal. He lives in southern New Mexico

another view point: i imagine that a modern swimming pool, with more than seasonal access, will be utilized by a larger percentage of the area population than a bowling alley. i would be curious to know what the utilization numbers look like for the bowling alley, the existing swimming pool, and the municipal golf
