Terry Todd Rice, 63, passed away on March 5, 2026 in Tularosa, New Mexico. He was born on July 13, 1962 in Lander, Wyoming to Robert and Kathryn (Wise) Rice.
Terry was a very talented musician, meticulous dry-waller and painter, had a great sense of humor, but most of all, a love and compassion for humanity. He spent much of his time helping others, and sharing his faith in God with everyone who would listen. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off of his back, or the last $20 in his pocket. He spent hours playing guitar and singing the many songs that he wrote, and wide variety of other songs and hymns. He was ale to transpose chords on the fly and could pick up 5 different harmonies by ear when practicing with the family for special music at church. He spent more time than most when doing drywall or painting, making sure everything was perfect. He loved to laugh and had silly ways about him that made others laugh. He will be greatly missed, and his memories will be cherished by those who knew him.
Survivors include his four sisters, Margo Lytle of Sylva, NC, Connie Coates, Kathy Fitterling, Melinda Rice Casares; brother, Larry Rice; son, James Joseph Bangert. (Three sisters and brother live in Tularosa and son is from California.) He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Rice; father, Robert Rice and nephew, Jacob Coates..
Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Sunday, April 19th at 11 AM at the Alamogrodo Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1000 S. Canyon Road.
