Election Thoughts Promises Made Promises Broken by Gary Perry
This is not a commentary in support of either the Republican or Democratic party in the 2024 general election. It is simply an opinion as to the status of Americans and the need for our government to "govern" as was the intent of the founding fathers of America.
Common, every day, working, Americans are struggling financially. Senior citizens have to choose between buying food or getting their medicines. I've watched mothers at the grocery checkout having to take items out of their baskets and put them back because they didn't have enough money. I gave a senior citizen at the checkout some money so she could have enough to get just a few essential things she needed because she didn't have enough money left after she paid for her medicine out of her social security check.
Senators and Representatives in Washington claim to be "in touch" with the public. Nothing could be farther from the truth. They vote to increase their own salaries, numerous privileges, and enjoy comprehensive health care, all paid for by the American "taxpayer."The same taxpayers who are barely getting by, financially.
How much money did Congress waste in congressional hearings the past four years rather than dealing with real issues? How much money is spent on payments to foreign countries to "buy friends?"How much money and lives did we waste on 20 years in Afghanistan only to see it return to its previous unruly Taliban status in less than 90 days after we withdrew?
What will the next four years look like?
Unfortunately, the clouds are already appearing just days after the election. Party lines are already being drawn to begin the bickering, finger pointing, and battles between political parties to come.
Sadly, our government, Republicans or Democrats, are not in touch with the American public. They are merely concerned with their party ideologies and personal agendas.
Promises made, promises broken has become the political standard.
At the end of all the political speeches the same words are always spoken.."God Bless America.
It's a good thing he does, because both political parties have failed the American public!
