Candidate for Treasurer Karl Melton Plays The Christian Card But…

Candidate for Treasurer Karl Melton Playbook, Playing the Christian Card to Further His Own Public Agenda. He nor his LBGTQ partner Rep John Block do NOT operate from a position of integrity to represent the public at large they are seeking to represent. Each represents a specific agenda, a radicalism that is opportunistic and self serving, playing Christian and speaking the Christian talking points; antiabortion anti-trans though members of the LBGTQ community and associated with an educational institution led by an individual of questionable Christian values and poor character. 

Melton brags of his graduation from a large Christian College - Liberty University. Melton had to be closeted “living a lie” while at Liberty University or he chose hypocrisy as he does today, to ignore their Christian Code for students who clearly condemns the LBGTQ lifestyle of which his openly lives. 

”The university requires  students to take three Evangelical Bible-studies classes. Its honor code, called the "Liberty  Way", prohibits premarital sex, cohabitation, any kind of romantic relationship between members of the same sex.”

 And yet, Karl Melton, who is openly involved in a same sex LBGTQ relationship with Rep John Block, has a history of selectively following rules as they suit him, not necessarily as they are written

He blatantly violates the “Liberty Way.”
Yet, voters are expected to trust him as the county treasurer of Otero County New Mexico? How? 

Lest, we not forget that this  is the very Christian College who’s president and son of the former founder, Jerry Falwell Jr  was embroiled in controversy not just about sex, but  it’s a tale of financial, institutional, and political corruption linked to Michael Cohen and Donald Trump in a potential quid pro quo. The apple of Melton may not fall far from the educational tree of which he brags to have been influenced by. 

In March 2012, the Falwell’s took a trip to Miami and stayed at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. There, they met Giancarlo Granda, a 21-year-old pool attendant and the three engaged in sex. 

Granda told Politico that during this first encounter, Becki Falwell asked him to come back to her room and have sex with her while Jerry watched. This has been since confirmed by multiple reports. 

But the beginning of the end for Falwell’s Liberty tenure turned out to be an Instagram post. Falwell posted a photo of himself with his pants unzipped, his belly and underwear visible, and his arm around the waist of his wife’s assistant. Their attire seemed to be a reference to Trailer Park Boys, a mockumentary about Canadian trailer park residents, though they were aboard a yacht owned by a Nascar mogul.

Falwell had tweeted racist photos and told students that if more people carried guns “we could end those Muslims before they walk in.” He has called a parent concerned about coronavirus on campus a “dummy” and told a pastor to “grow a pair.”

And yet the leader of this religious institution is yet another example of the hypocrisy of the extremist of the right wing and the hypocrisy we see in those that follow the ideology. Thus when local candidate for treasurer Karl Melton claims an education from his emphasis of the “largest Christian University in the world” which is also a false statement, we as voters should be wary.

Be wary of those such as Karl Melton and John Block, their rhetoric and their foundation tells much about who they really are. The wholesale image of a “Christian Couple” steeped in fundamentalist Christian ideology, educated by a “Christian School” makes no sense for a power seeking LBGTQ couple in one of the most conservative counties in the Nation.

Otero county voters beware Karl Melton is not the candidate for treasurer for Otero County to represent the values of one of the most conservative red counties of America.
