With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of New Mexico State Police K-9 Vector.
K-9 Vector proudly served our department since 2022 as a valued member of the NMSP Bomb Team, working alongside his handler and squad operator, Officer Alejandro “AJ” Romero. Throughout his service, Vector demonstrated exceptional courage, loyalty, and dedication to keeping our communities safe.
In late July, Vector was rushed to a veterinary hospital in Albuquerque after showing signs of serious medical distress. Despite every effort made by veterinary specialists, his condition was determined to be life-threatening. Due to the severity of his health issues, Vector was immediately retired from duty.
K-9 Vector was more than a working dog, he was a partner, protector, and cherished member of our Special Operations Bureau. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who wear the badge.
Rest easy, Vector.
