The New Mexico Department of Health is giving free Pack n’ Pay portable cribs to all parents and caregivers with children under 2 years of age who complete a free Safe Sleep Ambassador training.
The initiative is part of a new Safe Sleep campaign to reduce the risk of sudden unexpected infant death and other sleep-related infant fatalities. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 3,700 sleep-related infant deaths occurred in the United States in 2022.
“A Pack 'n Play and 30 minutes of training can save a life,” said Dr. Miranda Durham, Chief Medical Officer for the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH). “Every infant in New Mexico deserves the safest possible start in life.”
