ALAMOGORDO — Organ Mountain swept the Alamogordo Lady Tigers on Saturday, winning a district volleyball match in straight sets, 25-14, 25-20, 25-19.
The loss on Alamogordo's home floor drops the Lady Tigers to 6-10 overall and 0-2 in district play.
Alamogordo's best stretch came early in the second set, when the Lady Tigers built a five-point lead. Organ Mountain erased it and closed out the set.
Organ Mountain controlled the opening set from the start. The Knights led 10-5, stretched the margin to 16-9 and finished off a 25-14 win.
Alamogordo answered in the second set, jumping out to a 7-2 lead. Organ Mountain chipped away and moved in front 11-10, then held narrow leads of 15-13 and 21-18 before taking the set 25-20 for a 2-0 advantage.
The Knights opened the third set with a 13-7 lead. The Lady Tigers rallied to pull within three at 17-14, but Organ Mountain held them off and closed out the sweep, 25-19.
The Lady Tigers stay in district play with a road trip to Las Cruces. Alamogordo plays at Mayfield on Tuesday, still looking for its first district win of the season.
