Alamogordo, NM – April 6, 2026 – Alamogordo High School golfer Andrez Montoya has been selected as the Tiger Athlete of the Week for the week of April 3, 2026. The honor, presented by Alamogordo Sports + Talk Radio (101.9 FM / 1230 AM), recognizes Montoya’s consistent skill, dedication, and contributions to the Tiger golf program.
Montoya, a standout on the boys’ golf team, earned the weekly spotlight for his strong play in recent competitions. The Tigers have enjoyed a solid season, with Montoya frequently posting competitive scores that have helped the squad contend in district and invitational events.

Other Local High School Sports Results (April 2-3, 2026)
Baseball
• Tularosa Wildcats swept Hatch Valley, winning Game 1 by a score of 6-4 and Game 2 23-14. The Wildcats improved to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in district play. They host Socorro next on Tuesday.
• Centennial Hawks swept Alamogordo, taking Game 1 4-1 and Game 2 8-5. The Tigers fell to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in district. Alamogordo hosts Organ Mountain on Tuesday.
Softball
• Tularosa Lady Wildcats swept Robertson, winning Game 1 5-1 and Game 2 12-6. Tularosa improved to 7-6 and travels to West Las Vegas on Tuesday.
• Laguna Acoma Lady Chiefs swept Mescalero Apache, 20-5 in Game 1 and 16-1 in Game 2. Mescalero dropped to 1-6 and hosts Ruidoso JV on Tuesday.
• Alamogordo Lady Tigers split their doubleheader with Centennial, falling 10-0 in Game 1 before rallying for a 10-9 victory in Game 2. The Lady Tigers stand at 12-2 overall and 1-2 in district play. They travel to Organ Mountain on Tuesday.

Valid point. Similar to all the gallons of free water directed through town out into the desert every time it rains.
i hope that some arrangement can be made to preserve this scientific and historic facility - but given a basic understanding of the leakage in the floatation bearing, i fear that it is a long-shot proposition.
this is a classic example of a two-edged sword - the potential for both positive and negative results is very apparent.
