ALAMOGORDO – The Alamogordo high school softball team kept its perfect record intact with a solid road win, while the Tigers baseball squad suffered a shutout loss during tournament action this week.
The Lady Tigers defeated Artesia 5-2 at the Artesia Tournament to improve to 6-0 on the season. They will return to action Thursday against Cibola at the Kristin Griego Tournament in Rio Rancho.
Meanwhile, the Tigers baseball team dropped a 10-0 decision to Artesia in the same tournament. Alamogordo fell to 6-5 and will next play at Centennial on March 31.
Other Area Softball Results
Socorro swept Mescalero Apache in a doubleheader, taking Game 1 by a score of 21-10 and Game 2 16-1. The Lady Chiefs fell to 0-2 overall and will compete at the Mesilla Valley Christian Tournament on Friday.
At the Dexter Tournament, Clovis defeated Tularosa 16-6. The Lady Cats dropped to 3-2 and will face Farmington on Thursday at the Kristin Griego Tournament in Rio Rancho.
Area Baseball Results
Tularosa suffered a pair of losses at the Rose City Classic on its home field. Oak Grove defeated the Wildcats 12-7, dropping Tularosa to 2-2. They are scheduled to host Ruidoso on Tuesday.
Tularosa also fell to Grady 12-7 at the tournament, moving their record to 2-1 at that point. The Wildcats will play Oak Grove on Saturday at 3 p.m.
