ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — The Alamogordo Police Department (APD) will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the month of July as part of ongoing efforts to reduce impaired driving and enhance roadway safety.
Officers will be actively enforcing DWI laws, with a strong emphasis on detecting impairment from all sources — not just alcohol. Drugs, including marijuana, can significantly impair driving ability and will be a focus of enforcement.
“Impaired driving is not a victimless crime,” APD officials stress. “It puts lives at risk on our streets and highways.”
Motorists are urged to plan ahead:
• Use a designated driver
• Arrange for a ride-share or taxi
• Stay overnight if needed
Businesses are reminded of their responsibility regarding overserving alcohol.
The department’s message is clear: Drive sober. Arrive safely.
These operations align with broader statewide impaired driving prevention initiatives and reflect APD’s continued commitment to public safety.
Checkpoints and patrols will occur at various locations and times throughout July.
The Alamogordo Police Department remains dedicated to keeping our community safe.
