Alamogordo, NM – High school cheer teams from across Otero County and southern New Mexico took the floor at the 2026 NMAA State Spirit Championships held Saturday, March 21 at The Pit in Albuquerque.
Tularosa High School delivered the best local performance of the weekend, finishing on the podium with a strong 3rd place in the 3A division (total score 138.83). Alamogordo High School competed in the large-school 5A division, placing 10th with a score of 155.1.


The region was also well represented by:
• Mescalero Apache – 13th place in A-2A (score: 87.53)
• Chaparral – 6th place in Co-Ed A-4A (score: 135.87)
• Cloudcroft – Competed in the state meet representing the mountain community
