Alamogordo, New Mexico – March 17, 2026 — The Tularosa High School track and field teams turned in impressive performances Friday at the Mike Tooley Relays in Truth or Consequences, with the girls squad finishing 4th overall and the boys team placing 7th.
Several Wildcats punched their tickets to the state championships, led by standout distance runner Kayleigh Bigas and thrower Alivya Young.
Kayleigh Bigas dominated the distance events for the girls. She captured 1st place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:52.92 — qualifying her for state — and added a strong 3rd-place finish in the 1600m (6:08.63).
Alivya Young was unstoppable in the field events. She won both the Discus (1st, 96-0) and Shot Put (1st, 32-10) — both state-qualifying marks — while also taking 4th in the Javelin (71-10).
Other strong girls performances included:
• Desie Munn — 3rd in the 800m (3:02.49)
• Zemirah Guillory — 20th in the 100m (16.27), 22nd in the 200m (36.11)
• Julianna Vasquez — 4th in Long Jump (13-9)
• Relays: 3rd in 4x200 (2:06.53), 2nd in 1600 Sprint Medley (5:07.61), 6th in 4x100 (59.08)
On the boys side, Mason Garcia delivered a triple-threat performance, earning 2nd place in the 100m (12.01), 200m (24.23), and 400m (54.68).
Additional boys highlights:
• Relays: 6th in both 4x100 (51.92) and 4x200 (1:49.37)
• Robert Trujillo — 5th in Discus (87-6)
• Aidan Jaramillo — 8th in Shot Put (33-2.5)
• Chris Carper — 9th in Long Jump (17-0.25)
• Myles Gaston — 22nd in Javelin (67-11)
Tularosa will be back in action this Friday at the Rolla Buck White Sands Invitational in Alamogordo.
