The Alamogordo Police Department handled 47 calls for service during the week of February 16–22, 2026, resulting in 25 arrests and numerous citations. Shoplifting remained the most common offense, with at least eight incidents leading to charges or summonses. Officers also responded to multiple domestic disturbances, served a high volume of warrants, and investigated several property crimes.
Key highlights from the log (names omitted):
• Multiple shoplifting cases at local businesses, several resulting in arrests or non-traffic citations.
• Domestic violence incidents involving battery against household members, assault, and false imprisonment; suspects were arrested and booked into Otero County Detention Center.
• Numerous warrant arrests for failure to appear, failure to pay fines, and other court orders from both Municipal and Magistrate courts.
• Auto burglaries reported on at least two occasions with property taken in one case; no suspects identified.
• One residential burglary with felony and misdemeanor larceny charges plus trespassing.
• A crash with injuries attributed to reckless driving; citation issued.
• An unattended death investigation on Moonglow Avenue; no foul play suspected.
• Indecent exposure, criminal damage (kicked-in door and smashed window), trespassing, disorderly conduct, and drug-related offenses (possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia).
• Minor calls including animals at large, code enforcement violations, and suspicious activity.




Most arrestees were transported to the Otero County Detention Center pending court appearances, while others received citations to appear in Municipal Court.
