The Committee to Recall Couy Griffin issued the following press release. AlamogordoTownNews.com on Sunday night requested an update and per the committee spokesperson we were told via an email that, "we are almost into the 3 month timeframe and we are close to a third of the signatures. We plan on updating after the next weekend with a 1/3 of the way total."

Well, it appears the committee had a change of heart and decided to release numbers today verses next week and will be doing so every 2 weeks going forward.

Below is a press release with the numbers...

"Signatures to Date: 504 total of the 1574 required (the committee voted during our last meeting to release signature totals every two weeks)

Timeline: We are 27 days into the 90 day signature collection window. The committee is attempting to gather the required number of signatures by the first week of September in order to get the Recall initiative on the November ballot to remove Commissioner Griffin. The first week of September is a revised date from the County Clerk’s office. Our timeline goal will allow sufficient time to place the Recall on the election ballot scheduled for November 2nd.

Fundraising to Date: $4,069

Expenditures to Date: $2,070 (Expenses include: court filings, copies, banners, signs, voter list, t-shirts, and bank fees. In-kind donations are not included).

Friday, 30 Jul 5-7 pm, Walker Rd (Alamogordo) in the Softball fields parking lot

Sunday, 1 Aug 1-5 pm, Veteran Park (Tularosa)P

lease Note: The online Change.org petition that many people signed last year has no legal standing to generate a recall election. Only registered voters of Otero County District 2 can sign the official recall petition in order to put this initiative on the November 2nd ballot.

If you are a registered voter in Otero County District 2 (La Luz, Tularosa, Mescalero, Bent, Holloman AFB, the area north of Hwy 70 and west of Hwy 54, Walker Ave, Airport Rd, and Amber Skies areas of Alamogordo), you can sign the petition. Your name and address will be verified directly from the voter rolls prior to signing the petition to prevent any signatures from being thrown out during the validation process.

If you’re a district 2 voter that signed the change.org petition, but not the legal recall petition, please come sign at one of the locations listed above, or call our hotline at (575) 629-0908. We need volunteers for door-to-door canvassing in Tularosa on Saturday (7/31/21) at 9am.

Come help us get this done!

There seems to be confusion within the committee in releases to the press on the drop dead date to get the information turned into the County Clerks office. KALH-FM radio and concurrently the AlamogordoTownNews.com are both actively reaching to get clarity from the officials in charge to understand why there would be confusion around what the actual turn in date needs to be around the signature.
