Otero County, get ready — a nationally respected advocate for service members, veterans, and first responders is headed our way. Gary Sinise, the award‑winning actor and humanitarian beloved for his role as “Lieutenant Dan,” will appear in person on Saturday, February 21, 2026 as the next featured guest in the Sacramento Mountains Foundation’s Inspirational Speaker Series.

A Growing Speaker Series With Big‑Name Momentum

The Sacramento Mountains Foundation launched its semiannual speaker series in September 2025 with a high‑energy, appearance by NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw’s visit set the tone for what the Foundation hopes will become one of the region’s signature cultural events — bringing nationally recognized figures to inspire, entertain, and unite the community.

A Foundation Focused on Strengthening Otero County

Created in 2023 from the proceeds of the Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center sale, the Sacramento Mountains Foundation has quickly become a driving force for community development. Its mission centers on empowering local residents and organizations through capacity building, leadership support, and asset‑based community development.

The Foundation’s work includes:

• TeachOtero Grants, supporting more than 100 teachers with classroom supplies

• The AVD Initiative, addressing abandoned and vacant properties

• Youth mental health support, expanding access to care

• Nonprofit capacity building, including summits, technical assistance, and over $1 million in secured grants

• Community convenings, such as film screenings and civil discourse events

• Leadership and housing support, helping local organizations recruit and plan

• Recognition of first responders, honoring those who serve Otero County

These efforts reflect a long‑term commitment to strengthening the region from within — one project, one partnership, and one conversation at a time.
