Alamogordo will proudly roll out the red, white, and blue carpet on Saturday, September 27th, for a Heros Welcome as the community gathers downtown to Alamogordo MainStreet near the 1200 Block at the Flickinger Center's Patron's Hall to welcome home five local veterans returning from an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
The event, hosted by the US Veterans Motorcycle Club – Trinity Chapter and the Patriot Guard Riders, will culminate in a heartfelt reception at Patron’s Hall, 1106 New York Avenue, beginning at 7:00 p.m. September 27th, 2025.
The veterans—escorted from El Paso International Airport by a convoy of law enforcement and veteran riders—will have just completed a powerful journey to the nation’s capital, visiting memorials that honor their service and sacrifice. Among those honored are five local veterans whose stories span decades of dedication across multiple deployments and aircraft platforms. We will highlight more details of the individuals honored in an upcoming feature.
Residents are encouraged to line New York Avenue at the Flickinger Center and 12th Street with flags, signs, and cheers as the escort arrives between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. The reception at Patron’s Hall will offer a chance to meet these heroes, hear their stories, and show appreciation for their service.
This event continues Alamogordo’s tradition of honoring its veterans with dignity and celebration. As AlamogordoTownNews.org has previously reported, many Vietnam-era veterans returned home without recognition. This Honor Flight and the community’s response aim to rewrite that narrative with gratitude and pride.
Let as the 2nd Life Media Alamogordo Town News family join together and welcome in supporting the US Veterans Motorcycle Club Trinity Chapter in making this Honor Flight Welcome the best ever. See you on the 27th!
the long term drought conditions serve to underline the importance of long-term vision and planning to meet future water needs.
Sunny, with a high of 102 and low of 72 degrees. Sunny during the morning, clear in the afternoon and evening,
any water distribution built with schedule 20 pvc piping, has been "a public utility emergency" since it was constructed. the fact that it lasted as long as it has is incredible.
ultimately the price for poor management practices will be equally borne by every property owner in that community - except those who have private wells, i suppose. but even those folks will have a smaller pool of prospective buyers....makes it sound kinda like socialism doesn't it?
I hope Dr. Hernandez is a guest speaker at an upcoming meeting of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Commission. She has so much wisdom and experience to pass on to younger generations.
It's the product of living in a lowly bubble: an immature, undeveloped writing style that has no insight or reasonable conclusion. Those PhD's from Watsamatta U in New Mexico are only a union card for activists to rally 'round and a far cry from what $200k a year should buy.
Your excellence at writing a reply show that you are an intelligent and urbane fellow. Whatever, get me my fries bro.
The "mayor" has an office? Everyone sees straight through your P.R. circus. Your lap dog , Old McDonald, is just as half-blind and limited as the rest of us poor ******** scrambling in the real world.
Jones, I hope you get some help with your anger management issues soon.
Obviously you have never met nor engaged with the mayor. She works tirelessly full file research, engaging with constituents and legislators at the state and federal level and with policy experts from DC to New Mexico to learn and better serve her constituency.
I say bring back the Piggly Wiggly.
a worthwhile attempt to explain an unfortunate situation, that was combined with a billing system not easily understood. and, yet another opportunity to state that both electrical power generation and public water reserves are limited resources - and data centers s
still hopeful that there can be some arrangement that would allow the existence of the facility to continue.
