Against the advise of most experts in the health and infectious disease sector the Trump administration is changing government guidelines for who should get the COVID-19 vaccine. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced in a video message on Tuesday that the CDC will no longer recommend the COVID vaccine for healthy kids or pregnant women.
“The COVID vaccine for healthy children and healthy pregnant women has been removed from the CDC recommended immunization schedule,” Kennedy said
The decision contradicts advice from pediatricians and OB-GYNs, who warn it could lead to increased COVID risks for vulnerable populations. Dr. Tina Tan, a pediatric infectious disease expert, criticized the change as dangerous, citing serious complications seen in both children and pregnant patients during the pandemic. Critics warn the reversal will also reduce access to vaccines by impacting insurance coverage and supply.
Without CDC endorsement, the cost of the COVID vaccine may no longer be covered under programs such as Vaccines for Children or Medicaid, placing a financial burden on families. Prices can range from $57 to nearly $200 per dose. The near term impact is insurance may no longer cover the vaccination for those wanting it and it will no longer be provided for free for at risk populations and individuals without Federal backing.
The New Mexico Department of Health will follow this protocol “as of now,” officials said.
I would expect that sometime in the near future the CDC will also drop recommendation of the vaccine for healthy adults.
As I reported repeatedly over 3 years ago, the vaccine has multiple risks associated with it, including death. While the risks are low, the risk of severe complications from Covid are even lower, especially with the currently circulating variants. Couple that with the fact that the vaccine is ineffective in most cases, and the risk benefit analysis is not in favor of the vaccine.
President Biden got Covid shortly after having his second booster of the vaccine.
The vaccine gives a roughly 70% effectiveness during the period of 2 weeks post vaccination, to roughly 2 months, this is primarily due to a increase in generic anti-bodies, not Covid specific antibodies. The effectiveness drops rapidly after that time period.
This rescission of recommendation does not put anyone at higher risk because it only applies to otherwise healthy individuals.
We know the risks of serious side effects from the vaccine are much higher in children than adults, while the risk of serious outcomes from Covid infection in children is much lower than in adults.
We don't know the long term effects of the vaccine on children whose mothers were given the vaccine before they were born. It's at least possible that the serious side effects that have happened to children in the 8 - 13 age range will start showing up once these children reach that age.
The decision to vaccinate children was bad medicine to begin with, and I'll go head to head in debate with any so called pediatrician who still endorses it.
out of curiosity, are you a "so called pediatrician"?
What I am is someone who is capable of understanding scientific methodology, political motivation, and financial incentive.
The decision to vaccinate children was not based on science, in fact the best science available at the time recommended more study. It was based solely on politics and money.
I believe this rescission comes as a result of the EO on Restoring Gold Standard Science signed on 5/23/25. That EO instructed department and agency heads to specifically review policies and recommendations from the Soro's (Biden) era, and rescind any that were not based on real science.
In my own research of the Covid vaccines, I used only official data from the CDC. Data which contradicts the CDC's own recommendations.
In the coming weeks and months, you will see much so called science in government agency reports debunked and reversed.
That same EO also mandates that going forward, government reports based on scientific studies must reflect the conclusions of the science they're based on. Some are going to call this an horrific order that will vacate most government reports from the last 30 - 40 years or more.
