In a measure that was not touted with heavy marketing nor a loud endorsement from Alamogordo city commissioners the measure to rededicate the .125 local economic development tax for the construction and maintenance of a new enclosed pool for the citizens of Alamogordo passed with a 52% approval in votes for the measure.
With the funding source now secured the commission will now move forward with next steps in planning and soon vote on the type of enclosure and the design details of the project.Â
The present outdoor pool at the recreation center is near the end of its life due to cracking and aging. The commission made the recommendation to move forward with an enclosed option to provide year around access and to improve access opportunities for families, the elderly and disabled.
