Tiger Varsity Football and Area Sports Roundup

The Alamogordo High School Tiger varsity team began home play Friday evening with a game against Deming. The game began to an enthusiastic audience with Deming leading Alamogordo 7 to 0 at 5:49 to go in the first quarter. Nate Best scored a 2 yard touchdown run with Vazquez XP was goog scoring the Tigers and Deming to a tie of 7-7 with 1:11 to go in the first quarter.

In the second quarter Demings, Ryan Alfaro scored a 9 yard touchdown run and Deming then Alamogordo 14 to 7 with 8:16 to go in the second quarter.

The Tigers then score with Dylan Hergenreder making a 3 yard touchdown run and Vazquez XP was good.
Alamogordo and Deming then was tied 14-14 wirh 5:42 to go in the 2nd quarter.

Demings Ryan Alfaro then scored a 10 yard touchdown with Deming leading Alamogordo 21-14 and 1:13 to go till halftime.

Halftime saw the Alamogordo Tiger Band perform and the cheerleaders leading the spirit rally...

Going into the third Ryan Alfaro of Deming scored a 1 yard touchdown run.
Deming led Alamogordo 28-14 with 8:57 to remain in the 3rd quarter.

Alamogordo then scored worh a huge effort by Nate Best with a 25 yard touchdown pass to Gianni Mulgado and Vazquez XP was good. Deming still led Alamogordo 28-21 with 6:00 go in the 4th but the Tigers playing hatd against Deming ranked 3rd in the state.

Deming then rallied with Ryan Alfaro scoring a 1 yard touchdown run again. Deming led Alamogordo 35-21 with 3:14 to go to the game final woth the final Deming defeating Alamogordo 35-21 in a highly competitive game. The Tigers are 0-1 and next play at Roswell next Friday.

In other area sports highlights...

Football - Hot Springs defeatex Tularosa 20-18. The Wildcats are 0-1 and play at Ruidoso next Friday (8/30).

Football - Gateway Christian defeated Cloudcroft 57-0. The Bears are 0-1 and will host Lordsburg next Friday in Cloudcroft.

Boys Soccer - Alamogordo defeated Los Lunas 10-0. Leo Rick scores 4 goals, Jeremiah Rojas and Kyle Tamayo each with 2, Brennon Pannell and Ryan Amberson each have one goal. Rojas and Tamayo each with 2 assists, Rick and Jaden Narvaez each with 1 assist.Noah Mirabal with one save and clean sheet. Alamogordo is now 1-0 and next host Chaparral on Saturday.

In VolleyballVolleyball - Eunice defeated Mescalero Apache in 4 sets (25-14, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21) at Eunice Tournament. The Lady Chiefs are 0-1, next play Loving at 9 AM on Saturday.

Volleyball -Tularosa defeated Loving in straight sets (25-13, 25-13, 25-13) at the Eunice Tournament. The Lady Cats are 1-0, face winner of Eunice-Mescalero Apache Saturday at 10:30 AM

Volleyball -Texico defeated Cloudcroft in straight sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-23). The Lady Bears are 0-1, next play at Estancia on Tuesday.
