NMAA Division Results: Alamogordo High School Girls and Boys Golf Place Third in the State

The Alamogordo High School Boys and Girls Golf team showed New Mexico they could hang with the big dogs as they were very competitive this week at the New Mexico Athletics and Activities Association State Gold Championships at the Twin Warriors Golf Club at the Santa Ana Pueblo.

In the super competitive 5 A division representing the biggest schools in New Mexico both the Tiger Boys and Girls show they were a force to reckon with. 

For the Boys the state 1st place banner went to Volcano Vista High School with the second place banner going to La Cueva. La Cueva has a strong academic and athletics program and most of the major sports writers are predicting the state softball title may come down to a match between La Cueva and Alamogordo both thought to be the best of the Northern and Southern parts of New Mexico athletically this year in multiple sports.

The team scores for the boys was competitive and close with Volcano Vista at 311, La Cueva 314 and Alamogordo at 319 strokes.

On the Girls side of the course the state banner went to Peidra Vista

On the Girls side of the course the state banner went to Peidra Vista with a score of 338, La Cueva placed second with 352 strokes and the Lady Tigers won the green 3rd place trophy with a score of 370.

Congratulations to Alamogordo High School on this historic win being the first time since the Golf Coaching reign of Ralph Tate and Billy Aldridge in the 60s to the early 70s, that both Alamogordo Tiger Boys and Girls showed a concurrent state victory bringing home a state trophy.

The results congratulations to Albuquerque Academy High School, the Girls Class 4A State Champions at the 2024 NB3 State Golf Championships presented by Realty One of New Mexico (hosted by Santa Ana Golf Club and Twin Warriors Golf Club on the Santa Ana Pueblo). Kirtland Central was 2nd and Deming was 3rd.
