What’s Happening Around the APS School District

Community volunteers are needed as judges at Sunset Hills Elementary. 

Join APS in shaping the dreams of budding authors. You can enjoy a cup of coffee while reading winning submissions from our young aspiring authors across the district in one or more of the following categories.

✏️ Bound Book- Illustrations required/ min of 4 and max of 32 pages
✏️ Cartoon, Comic, or Graphic Novel- Min of 4 and max of 32 frames
✏️ Essay- Submissions on a single subject or personal view/opinion limited to 5 typewritten pages
✏️ Poetry -Limited to two typewritten pages
✏️ Short Story- A fiction entry of less than 3,000 words
✏️ Flash Fiction- A fiction entry limited to 1,000 words
✏️ Bilingual entry- Any category: bound book, short story, essay, cartoon, or poetry)

Your support means the world to these young voices yearning to be heard.
Note:  Students will not be present for the judging as it is a reading and scoring event only.

Seeking 8th grade to juniors looking to enhance their High School Experience. 

Students should check out the Gold Standard Athletic Training Program. This program offers an incredible opportunity to learn new medical skills, establish long-lasting relationships, and earn a varsity letter. And if more was needed, participants also have the chance to compete for a state championship.

If this interests students then it is highly recommend giving it a closer look and applying!!

APS recent Gold Series Teacher Professional Development Session on "Digital Escape Rooms for Test Prep" was an absolute blast according to accounts on social media.  The participants dove deep into the immersive world of escape rooms and explored how to bring this engaging, interactive experience into the classrooms. From fostering teamwork and critical thinking to igniting creativity and problem-solving skills, the possibilities are endless for this technology and teaching method.
