Otero County New Mexico's former County Commissioner, Couy Griffin and former president Donald Trump both face a similiar battle around the 14th amendment. When both met at the White House neither suspected their paths would cross concerning a constitutional question.

Former President Donald Trump and Couy Griffin, both, face questions about their participation and their role in the events of January 6th, 2021 at the nations capital. Trump is accused of being the ring leader and facilitating the dialog that inspired the events of the day that a New Mexico Court deemed, "an insurrection." Griffin was convicted of a misdemeanor concerning his role at the capital on Jan 6th, and is the first person since 1861 (post civil war) to be removed from office under the 14th Amendment.

Based upon the precedent of the Griffin case, in which a New Mexico judge ordered him removed from office, barring him from ever holding office again lawsuits are being filed in Colorado and considered elsewhere to keep former president Trump off the ballot.

AlamogordoTownNews.com radio edition hosted by Anthony Lucero reached out to Couy Griffin to get his thoughts concerning this effort against former president Trump and asked for the status of his appeal to the US Supreme Court on the case that bars him from ever holding public office again.

Couy Griffin spoke to AlamogordoTownNews.com on KALHRadio.org with Anthony Lucero about his lawsuit pending to the Supreme Court concerning the 14th amendment via link  https://youtu.be/fM4dgF631Nw?si=z7FOK0ZBN077B3Zm

During that interview Mr. Griffin was asked by Mr. Lucero mentioned that Arizona is attempting to use the Griffin court case as the precedent to keep Trump off their ballot and what were his thoughts? Griffin responded that, "I'm not surprised, I knew that was going to be their plan from the get go to be honest with you..."

" when you have ... Dan Abrams, the NAACP and other national organizations coming at you, I"m not that important, you know, I'm not that big of a threat, it is Trump they are after... I knew they were building the legal framework in what they were doing when I went through my lawsuit, that is why I say, it is not a surprise."

Lucero then asked about the fact that Trump will eventually be heard before the Supreme Court does he feel that a decision either for or against Trump will effect Couy Griffin? Griffins response: "I believe Trump is going to find relief from the courts from me, in the courts because I am already ahead of Trump, I have a petition for relief filed with the United States Supreme Court.. if... that is responded to and found positive in my way and overturns the District Court Judge Mathews Court order then Trump would be able to use that as a way to find relief to go back on the ballot."
