Helping entrepreneurs develop their businesses is Trish Livingston’s job. She is knowledgeable, kind, encouraging and able to discern just what is needed.
I’m speaking of Trish Livingston , Director of the local Small Business Development Center(SBDC) at NMSU Alamogordo. One of 18 offices across the state and 1100 in our nation, this local program is a partner of the US Small Business Administration. Services are professional, confidential and offered at no-cost.
Trish is an amazing resource for people looking to start and build a business in our community. I am currently participating at the Alamogordo Center of Commerce in one of her 4-part trainings. At our first session she addressed business ideas in definition and feasibility. We went on to consider business planning, structures, the business registration process., and marketing plans. Trish repeatedly offered us one-to-one consultations. Checklists, resource packets, sample forms - it was a very organized presentation.
Having worked in social services for the bulk of my career, I am not well-versed in “business speak” and the planning needed for a business effort - a real duck out of the water! I took advantage of the one-to-one time. Even as I am working towards a part-time small business focused on moving a hobby into a business to supplement my social security income, I was received graciously. I felt I could ask even the simplest question. I received recommendations individualized for my business idea and assurance that Trish would be available as I deal with my 1st round of GRT reporting. I left my session a lot more confident than when I entered!
The remaining SBDC training classes at the Center of Commerce will address getting one’s business onto Google, marketing your business, and financial management.
Trish also works with established businesses, in areas of staff development, strategic planning, market research, business incentives and succession planning. Some trainings are virtual and there is a YouTube channel.
Some people work quietly and make huge impacts on others. Trish Livingston is one! Alamogordo Proud!

Sunny, with a high of 97 and low of 71 degrees. Sunny for the morning, clear overnight.
where's neighbor john baake - to explain to us that contamination of natural resources really isn't that big a deal....and besides, it's a safe distance from where HE lives.
You must mean thank you to the professional lobbyists, because I'm not finding any professional scientist's or doctors involved in any of these decisions.
of course not - dear leader/elon musk/and the doge boys have cleaned out anyone who had legitimate credentials....nothing left here but worshippers of the orange overlord.
the trump regime is always looking for ways to ****** the rug out from under deserving citizens - so they can stabilize the precarious situation that our poor deserving billionaires find themselves in.
another shout out to our elected state office holders for going to bat for the everyday people of new mexico!
If Senator Martin Heinrich spear headed this legislation, that spear must've ended up in a cow somewhere around Clovis, because it never made it to D.C.
According to the Congressional record, the bill was introduced by Senator Marco Rubio, and co-sponsored by Senator Rick Scott, both of Florida.
another amazingly foolish statement on your part, neighbor.
Gotta love these activists, complaining that the area has passed from defacto control by para-military drug cartels, with orders to shoot anyone they see on site. To control by the US military with orders to warn and detain.
three cheers for the "escalation in the trump administration policy of militarization of the borderlands". most good americans always wanted to live inside a military zone - just like all the germans in post war berlin...and the delightful 38th parallel in korea.
Could it be much worse than living in or next to a national park, forest, or monument? Or even worse, a state park, forest, or wild life reserve?
The Federal and state land grabs have been astronomical in terms of the sheer amount of acreage seized.
The only thing I have been able to confirm as true is that Donald J. Trump is POTUS.
