The Alamogordo Center of Commerce hosts activities and events throughout the year which promote business and economic growth as well as networking opportunities for businesses.
The Alamogordo Center of Commerce is the business face of Alamogordo representing members in legislative initiatives, business recruitment and public relations. The Center is focused on small business development and partnerships to grow the Alamogordo community.
When one thinks of Alamogordo’s Center of Commerce, one thinks of GB Oliver who has been Executive Director for many years. His visible leadership both within the business community and politically has been to build opportunities for growth. Recently Mr. Oliver was hospitalized for open heart surgery. He remains in critical condition however with a strong prognosis of recovery.
As a result of his absence and to provide him recovery time the board of directors of the Center of Commerce has appointed Michelle Gill as the interim director to fill the void in Mr. Oliver’s absence.
Michelle Gill is a very well known and visible face within the local community as she is the on hand community liaison that hosts most public events. With title of Operations Director, she has coordinated or led almost every public event the center hosted in the most recent years. From ribbon cutting, to coffee and connections, to community meetings, and more; Ms Gill was the hands on operations person, making the event happen and a success.
Via a press release from the board of directors of the Center of Commerce the interim appointment was announced today…
“The Center of Commerce Executive Board met on March 27, 2023. Due to our current Executive Director, GB Oliver, being out on medical leave, we have determined that it be best to place the Center of Commerce Operations Director, Michelle Gill, in place as Interim Director. We appreciate that Michelle has accepted the offer and will begin in this capacity immediately.“
We reached out to Michelle for comment and her comment was; “I hope that GB bounces back quickly, and with me as the Interim Director, he can focus on his recovery.”
