A Parents Opening Day Concern With Tularosa Public Schools

Dear Mr. Lindsey,

How do you believe the first day of school went today? I can tell you from a parent’s perspective—it was incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

You have held the position of superintendent for several years now. Given that, it’s baffling that the district continues to experience the same avoidable issues at the start of each school year. Why is it still so difficult to ensure a smooth and successful first day for students, parents, and staff alike?

Let me be clear: this is a failure in leadership. The responsibility ultimately falls on you—not only for the lack of preparation but also for not holding your staff accountable. Schedules should be finalized before the first day. Students should be registered and ready to go. Parents, students, and staff should not be forced to scramble on day one to address matters that should have been handled well in advance.

Where is the communication from your office? Where is the sense of urgency? From the outside, it appears you are disengaged. If you are no longer invested in improving the quality of education and experience for our children, it’s time to step aside and let someone who cares take the lead.

This is not just my opinion—I believe I speak for many in the Tularosa community when I say: enough is enough. Our children, our teachers, and our schools deserve better.

Sincerely,

Parent
