NMSU receives funding to support Alamogordo Public Schools students.

New Mexico State University in Las Cruces has been awarded the TRIO Educational Talent Search Grant to support higher education for disadvantaged students in the Alamogordo Public Schools.

TRIO Educational Talent Search Projects are funded under the TRIO Grants from the U.S. Department of Education. The TRIO Educational Talent Search Project provides academic, career, and financial counseling to students who have a disadvantaged background but have the potential to succeed in a higher education setting.

The TRIO program also encourages individuals who have quit school to reenter and complete their education. The program offers mentor programs, workshops, career exploration and aptitude assessment, and tutorial services.
