The public is invited to join the Honor Flight veterans of Otero County on Saturday January 29 at 9:00am at the 19th Hole for a no host breakfast.
This is a unique opportunity to talk to and get to know these veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. These veterans are a part of history that helped to shape the course of our country. If you are a veteran or know of a veteran or just want to engage with these wonderful people……come on down!
Our special guest speaker is Otero County Deputy Sheriff and author Michael Edwards who penned the book “A Life Worth Dying For”
By: Michael Edwards
When James Gibson decided to volunteer during World War II, he had no idea the danger and adventure that awaited him. It wasn't long after he started flying as a pilot aboard a B-17 Bomber in the turbulent, bomb-ridden skies of Europe that James came to see firsthand just how brutal war could be. Torn between duty and his longing for a quiet life back home with his sweetheart, James will have to come to terms with what it means to be a war hero and sacrifice everything for the greater good.
About the Author
Michael Edwards is a deputy sheriff from New Mexico with a long-lasting respect for his grandfather, David C. Edwards, and all the veterans who fought bravely in World War II. Though he never got the chance to meet his grandfather, his bravery as a gunner aboard a B-26 Bomber in World War II is what inspired Edwards to write this creative homage to his grandfather and all the self-sacrificing heroes of World War II.

Yep, Cota is not ready for a public office let alone a Mayor.
Any chance Anthony Lucero would interview Ted Morgan?
There’s a thing called reactive abuse. It can be used to bring frivolous, costly lawsuits (aka lawfare). Please educate yourself so you do not fall for harassment baiting. There are some very interesting videos on Youtube about it.
Great article. You do not even have to name the people, I already know who you are talking about. Keep speaking the truth. Love it.

New sidewalks for some neighborhoods. What about the Walker area that is also in her district. Seeing is believing, Walker area has always been ignored.
Have you ever messaged her about it, or are you just complaining to complain? Her actions speak louder than all the other commissioners combined.
She championed and approved $12 million dollars worth of Water system upgrades for walker road and yet you choose to ignore that. It is in the design phase with contract bidding to be announed in early 2026 with work to begin in later spring. That is the largest capital investment in Walker Road in over 50 years.
Did anyone see what Senator Charles Grassley is saying about AI yesterday. What does that have to do with this? It might explain why legal systems in many cities are such a mess.
But also: Why is no one talking about the DISMAL low income housing in Alamogordo, and the need to investigate what is going on in those places, and the lack of housing for homeless???????????

"I cannot accept your canon that we are to judge Pope and King unlike other men, with a favorable presumption that they do no wrong. If there is any presumption, it is the other way against holders of power...power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." ~ Lord Acton
It is interesting as you delve into the family, business and indeed religious connections that are intertwined in city politics. Some folks have a whole lit of fleas scratching the dog.
Absolutely true lots of fleas itching the dog!!
I somehow got logged out without doing so since last time I was here. I wanted to view the Flickinger meeting on Facebook but cannot because my account was taken down. I do not attend these public events because of all the attempts to mess with my life already.
