AlamogordoTownNews.com 3 Candidates File for Alamogordo Mayors Race

Today was the candidate filing day for those running in the November election for offices in Otero City and County Elections.

As AlamogordoTownNews.com reported 3 weeks ago, controversial commissioner Susan Payne has entered the race for mayor though she refused to comment that she was running when asked repeatedly by the AlamogordoTownNews.com staff. Transparency? Tonight her focus will not be on the mayors race nor did she place an agenda item on todays meeting for issues related to Alamogordo. For tonight's meeting which is sure to spark fireworks and we will report on, she proposed as her priority issue a statement in support of the Floyd school system.

She will be running against Nadia Sikes of which has been a strong voice on the commission in keeping the commission on task of its responsibilities as a body and not to get sidetracked with issues outside of its scope or charter as a counter weight to Ms. Payne's approach to issues. Both have been seen at times as controversial in relation to certain issues.

The wild card in the race is a political novice that does not hold elective office but comes from conservative roots that being Melissa Gayle Laperuta. Ms. Laperuta is the wild card as in her constituency and that of Susan Payne may have some cross over.

AlamogordoTownNews.com will seek interviews with each candidate and will be pulling candidate financial reports, pulling their records and researching each candidate and their stances and work for their constituents. We will certainly follow the money trails of each candidate in what is sure to represent and interesting race.

Additionally AlamogordoTownNews.com will be hosting a public forum for candidates to be announced soon.  Hopefully transparency will prevail and all candidates will participate.
