Alamogordo, Tularosa, Cloudcroft, Mescalero, and Timberon are set to host a variety of parades, fireworks displays, live music, food vendors, and family-friendly activities this Saturday, July 4, 2026, as communities across Otero County come together to celebrate Independence Day and the semiquincentennial of the United States.

From the high desert of Alamogordo to the cool pines of Cloudcroft and the mountain resort setting of Mescalero, residents and visitors have multiple options to enjoy patriotic festivities.

Alamogordo: Parade, Fireworks at Space Museum, and Post-Parade Celebration

The City of Alamogordo’s signature event is the annual 4th of July Parade, organized by the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce in partnership with AFSA Chapter 1257 at Holloman Air Force Base and local military partners.

Lineup/check-in: 8:00 a.m. at the Otero Federal Credit Union parking lot (1200 E 10th Street, in front of Albertsons).

Start time: Promptly at 10:00 a.m.

Route: Proceeds along 10th Street (adjusted this year due to New York Avenue revitalization work), ending near Maryland Avenue and E 10th Street.

Highlights: Floats, marching units, veterans’ organizations, first responders, local businesses, and community groups. The parade celebrates America’s 250th anniversary and the spirit of Independence Day

Following the parade, VFW Post 7686 (700 Hwy 70 W) will host a public open house from 3:00 p.m. until midnight, featuring live music by the Cadillac Kings, cold drinks, and camaraderie (valid ID required).

The city’s July 4th fireworks extravaganza returns. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with fireworks launching around 9:15 p.m. The display is visible across much of the Tularosa Basin with choreographed music broadcast on KZZX 105.3 FM.

Tularosa: Evening Celebration with Fireworks at Little League Field

The Village of Tularosa invites the community to its 4th of July Celebration from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Little League Field.

Attendees can enjoy food vendors, music, games, and a fireworks display to cap off the evening. This relaxed, family-oriented event offers a classic small-town Independence Day experience in the heart of the Tularosa Basin.

Cloudcroft: Mountain Parade, Live Music, Food, and Fireworks

High in the Sacramento Mountains at over 8,600 feet, Cloudcroft offers a cool alternative with its classic small-town 4th of July Parade and Celebration.

Parade: Starts at 12:00 p.m. (lineup begins at 11:00 a.m. at Burro Avenue and Paqua). The route runs through the village and ends at Summit Christian Fellowship. The event is open to all participants—individuals, families, businesses, and groups are encouraged to decorate and join. Theme: “Celebrate 250 Years, One Community.”

Additional festivities: Live music and food vendors in the village create a festive downtown atmosphere.

Fireworks: An evening display lights up the mountain skies.

The event promises a quintessential mountain Fourth of July with pine-scented air and community spirit.

Mescalero: Star-Spangled Celebration at Inn of the Mountain Gods – Largest Fireworks in New Mexico

The Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino in Mescalero hosts one of the region’s biggest and most spectacular events: the Star-Spangled Celebration (also called July 4th Celebration / Fireworks at the Inn).

When: 3:00 p.m. to approximately 9:00–10:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4.

Highlights: Live DJ/entertainment, concession stands, family activities including jumping balloons, lakeside festivities, and more.

Fireworks: The resort presents what is billed as the largest fireworks display in New Mexico, launched over the water at dusk (around 8:45–9:00 p.m.). The show is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Sacramento Mountains and Mescalero Lake.

This polished, lakeside resort event draws visitors from across the region for a full afternoon-to-evening experience.

A reminder on fireworks safety…
