Alamogordo, NM – Mark your calendars! Otero County and the City of Alamogordo invite the community to the Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Washington Park. This free, family-friendly event promises vendors, live entertainment, and so much more.

Juneteenth, established on June 19, 1865, commemorates the day Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to deliver news of emancipation—more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. It is the oldest known celebration marking the end of slavery in the United States.
