Track & Field Results: Cloudcroft, Alamogordo JV, Tularosa and Mescalero Apache Shine in Capitan

Capitan, NM — Local high school athletes from the Alamogordo area competed Friday at the Tiger Invitational in Capitan, delivering strong performances across multiple events. Legacy Academy swept the team titles, winning both the boys and girls divisions, followed by Hagerman and Capitan on the boys side, and Gateway Christian and Capitan on the girls side.

Cloudcroft placed well in both divisions, while Alamogordo’s JV squad turned in several top finishes. Dylan Suggs of Alamogordo JV earned a state qualifier mark in the pole vault.

Standout Individual and Relay Performances

Boys Highlights

Alamogordo JV had a productive day, highlighted by Ryley Sandoval’s victory in the 200m (1st, 24.36). Dylan Suggs cleared 13-0 for 2nd in the pole vault and secured state qualifier status. Other notable scorers included:

• William Jordan – 7th in 100m (12.38)

• Jsiah Wiggins – 6th in 400m (56.98)

• Justin Griffin – 7th in both 800m (2:29.78) and 1600m (6:02.94)

• Leo Munoz Hernandez – 7th in 110H (21.68) and 8th in 300H (50.35)

• Brayden Moncada – 7th in triple jump (32-6.5) and 14th in long jump (16-5)

• Nathan Clewis – strong throws with 12th in shot put (32-10) and 16th in discus (82-7)

The JV relays were consistent, placing 4th in the 4x100 (48.12), 4x200 (1:40.34), 4x400 (3:54.21), and sprint medley (4:17.28).

Cloudcroft saw Chris Yousif finish 4th in the 200m (25.02) and 9th in the 100m. Noah Saffle jumped 5th in triple (35-11.5) and 8th in long jump (17-1.5). Dominic Brito tied for 3rd in high jump (5-2). The 4x800 relay took 3rd (11:32.77), while Fin Abel placed 4th in the 3200m (11:53.69).

Tularosa featured Mason Garcia with 5th in 100m (12.22) and 2nd in 200m (24.64). Aidan Jaramillo powered the throws, taking 4th in shot put (39-10) and 6th in discus (100-4). The sprint medley placed 6th.

Mescalero Apache had a highlight in the sprint medley (2nd, 4:06.24) and Gavin Castillo’s 2nd-place finish in the 3200m (11:44.71).

Girls Highlights

Cloudcroft dominated several events thanks to Cassia Moore, who won the triple jump (1st, 33-5.25) and high jump (1st, 5-0), took 3rd in 100H (18.21) and long jump (15-2). The 4x200 relay team of Tristyn Housler, Rylee Walsh, Cassia Moore, and Aurora Trejo won with a time of 1:55.43. Aurora Trejo added 4th in 100m (13.64) and 3rd in high jump. Delanie Dallas placed 2nd in javelin (99-8).

Alamogordo JV showed depth in the hurdles and relays. Madelyn Ramirez took 4th in 300H (57.12), and Gabby Gonzalez placed 5th in 100H (20.10). The 4x100 (3rd, 55.79) and 4x200 (3rd, 1:58.66) both landed on the podium. Sawyer Kopp jumped 5th in long jump (13-8.5) and 7th in triple (29-4.5).

Tularosa excelled in the throws with Alivya Young sweeping 1st in shot put (34-5) and discus (99-7). The 4x100 relay placed 4th.

Mescalero Apache contributed solid relay efforts, including 5th in the 4x100.
