Alamogordo, NM — January 3, 2026
A peaceful protest against U.S. military intervention in Venezuela took a disturbing turn Saturday when a motorcyclist allegedly drove onto the sidewalk in an apparent attempt to strike several participants holding signs at the intersection of 10th Street and White Sands Boulevard.
According to a firsthand account from one of the demonstrators, the rider—described as a “motorcycle nazi dude”—first veered toward two women on one side of the street, forcing them to move out of the way. The motorcyclist then reportedly cut through traffic to make a U-turn and repeated the maneuver toward another protester on the opposite side.
The eyewitness, who was among those still holding signs late in the demonstration alongside participants identified as Haiku, Jondalar, Donna, and Kathy, stated: “A motorcycle tried to run a few of us over… The guy drove onto the sidewalk trying to hit me and Donna, then did the same thing to Kathy on the other side of White Sands.”
The individual is described as wearing no helmet, he was bald, had a nazi tattoo, orangeish long beard, wrap around sunglasses, and it was a Hog/low rider style of motorcycle. Any information on this individual or eyewitnesses are encouraged to call the Alamogordo police at +1 (575) 439-4300.
Fortunately, no one was injured. The protesters filed a police report upon returning home and believes the incident may have been captured on a nearby Alamogordo Police Department camera positioned at the busy intersection.
The individuals involved characterized the event as illustrative of political tensions, saying it “demonstrates the kind of hate and anger MAGA has toward us.” Despite the scare, the demonstrators remained resolute: “It doesn’t scare me and I won’t stop protesting."
The broader protest, which drew 18 local residents concerned about the constitutionality of Operation Absolute Resolve—the overnight U.S. airstrikes and capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro—remained otherwise peaceful throughout its duration from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Alamogordo Police Department and the city of Alamogordo has issued a public statement regarding the alleged assault.
"We are profoundly grateful that no pedestrian was struck. However, the conduct reported is completely horrific and wholly unacceptable. No one should ever be made to feel fearful for exercising their right to assemble peacefully. This is an active investigation, and the Alamogordo Police Department is actively reviewing all available video and footage. Once the individual responsible is identified, they will be charged, accordingly including assault with a deadly weapon."
Local law enforcement regularly monitors the intersection, a frequent site for public demonstrations any information on the alleged assault call +1 (575) 439-4300.
