Alamogordo, NM – January 3, 2026
Building on the success of its inaugural gathering, Alamogordo Town News and Krazy KALH Radio (kalhradio.org) are hosting the second in their series of salon-style community forums on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at Otero Artspace, located at 1118 Indiana Avenue.
This intimate, discussion-based forum aims to demystify the City of Alamogordo’s budget process and project funding. Subject-matter experts from the city’s finance, projects, and administration departments will serve as panelists, sharing insights on key topics including:
• The role of city staff in managing budgets and timelines
• How projects are prioritized, placed on timelines, implemented, and overseen
• The responsibilities of city commissioners and the mayor in decision-making
Each panelist will engage directly with a moderator in an educational format, followed by an open, moderated dialogue with the public. Organizers emphasize a respectful environment to encourage thoughtful questions and community input.
The series draws inspiration from successful community events held at Otero Artspace, a historic venue known for fostering civic engagement. The first forum in the series, held on Monday, December 8, 2025, attracted a strong turnout and sparked productive conversations on local governance issues. Attendees praised the format for its accessibility and focus on informed dialogue, with many noting how it clarified complex municipal processes and encouraged greater public participation.
These forums underscore a growing commitment in Alamogordo to transparent, community-driven discussions on local government operations. Residents are invited to attend the January 6 6 pm event to learn more and contribute to the conversation.
