Alamogordo Police Department Reports Varied Criminal Activity During July 13-19

Alamogordo — The Alamogordo Police Department’s weekly activity log for July 13-19, 2026, documented a range of criminal incidents across the community, including drug-related charges, theft, domestic violence, and traffic violations.

Violent Crimes and Domestic Incidents

Multiple domestic violence cases were reported during the week. Officers responded to battery and assault incidents involving household members, resulting in arrests and court proceedings. One aggravated assault case involving a deadly weapon was documented, with ongoing investigations continuing through the week.

A shots-fired incident was reported in the Indian Wells and Florida area on Friday, with several suspects taken into custody as the investigation remained ongoing.

Drug-Related Offenses

Law enforcement conducted operations in coordination with the White Mountain Drug Task Force, leading to multiple arrests for controlled substance possession and related violations. Cases included possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Several individuals were charged with trafficking controlled substances and failure to comply with conditions of release related to prior drug offenses.

Theft and Property Crimes

The week saw multiple theft incidents, including shoplifting cases at local retail establishments. A residential burglary on South Linda Vista resulted in the theft of a gun safe containing firearms and cash, with no signs of forced entry. Investigators documented breaking and entering, larceny, and criminal damage to property charges in connection with the incident.

Additional property crimes included unauthorized use of public property, criminal damage charges, and cases involving stolen property disposition.

Traffic Violations and Accidents

Two vehicle crashes with injuries were reported—one involving a Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Trailblazer at US Highway 70 and US Highway 54, and another involving a motorcycle on New York Avenue at First Street. Drivers reported minor injuries, with one motorcyclist transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple DWI arrests were made following traffic stops, along with failure-to-pay-fines citations and other traffic-related violations.

Warrant Enforcement and Court Issues

Officers made numerous arrests on outstanding municipal and magistrate court warrants for failure to appear and failure to pay fines. These enforcement actions resulted in several individuals being incarcerated pending court proceedings and bond hearings.

Regulatory Violations

Cases were documented for animal control violations, including an animal at large and vaccine requirement case. Code enforcement issues included citations for international property maintenance violations, unlawful growth or accumulation on lots, and park closure hours violations.

Other Incidents

One unattended death was investigated on Sunday, involving a 78-year-old female found inside a residence. Medical examiners and detectives determined the cause of death appeared to be from natural causes.

Juvenile offenses included a runaway report and battery referrals to the Juvenile Probation Officer.
