Athlete of the Week: Nyah Bowen – Alamogordo Lady Tiger Volleyball 101.9 fm 1230 AM

October 19, 2025 — Alamogordo, NM It was a tough outing for Alamogordo soccer squads on Saturday as both the Lady Tigers and Tigers fell to Mayfield in district play, while volleyball teams across the region battled through a full slate of matchups.

Girls Soccer: Mayfield 8, Alamogordo 0

The Lady Tigers were overwhelmed by a dominant Mayfield squad, falling 8-0 in a shutout loss on home turf. With the defeat, Alamogordo drops to 5-12-1 overall and remains winless in district play at 0-8. The team will look to regroup as they host Las Cruces on Tuesday.

 Boys Soccer: Mayfield 6, Alamogordo 2

Despite goals from Ryan Amberson and Diego Ochoa, the Tigers couldn’t keep pace with Mayfield, who pulled away for a 6-2 victory. Alamogordo falls to 3-15 on the season and 0-8 in district competition. They’ll travel to Las Cruces on Tuesday seeking a late-season spark.

Volleyball: Mesilla Valley Christian 3, Mescalero Apache 0

The Lady Chiefs were swept in straight sets (25-11, 25-14, 25-8) by Mesilla Valley Christian. Mescalero Apache drops to 1-16 overall and 0-2 in district play. Their next challenge comes Tuesday on the road against Cloudcroft.

Volleyball: Lordsburg 3, Cloudcroft 0

Cloudcroft battled hard but couldn’t overcome Lordsburg, falling in straight sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-17). The Lady Bears now sit at 9-8 overall and 1-1 in district. They’ll host Mescalero Apache on Tuesday.

Volleyball: Las Cruces 3, Alamogordo 0

The Lady Tigers struggled to find rhythm against a powerful Las Cruces squad, dropping the match in straight sets (25-4, 25-8, 25-17). Alamogordo falls to 6-11 and 0-4 in district play. They’ll host Gadsden on Tuesday in hopes of a turnaround.

Volleyball: Tularosa 3, Hatch Valley 1

In one of the weekend’s most competitive matches, the Lady Cats edged Hatch Valley in four sets (26-24, 25-23, 17-25, 25-23). Tularosa improves to 11-6 and will host Ruidoso on Tuesday.
