Alamogordo- In a Friday night showdown packed with explosive plays and playoff implications, the Alamogordo Tigers jumped out to a commanding early lead but ultimately fell to the Carlsbad Cavemen 30-25 in a pivotal District 6A-3 contest. The loss drops Alamogordo to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in district play, casting a shadow over their postseason aspirations as the regular season nears its close.
The Tigers came out swinging, with quarterback Nate Best igniting the scoreboard on a 65-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Bowman, followed by a 71-yard touchdown run and a 70-yard interception return for a score—all in the first half. Despite missing two extra points, Alamogordo surged to a 19-7 lead early in the second quarter.
Carlsbad, however, refused to fold. Quarterback Marley Munoz connected with Robert Castaneda for two long touchdown passes—one for 58 yards in the first quarter and another for 29 yards late in the fourth. Running back Brock Wright added two short-yardage touchdown runs, including a 4-yard go-ahead score late in the third quarter. Kicker Eloy Lopez’s 42-yard field goal helped close the gap before halftime, and Carlsbad’s defense held strong in the final minutes to seal the win.
The loss marks Alamogordo’s fourth in five games, a skid that has significantly impacted their standing in the New Mexico 6A rankings. While the Tigers had shown flashes of offensive brilliance in recent weeks, including a high-scoring battle against Centennial, their inability to close out games has cost them dearly in both district standings and statewide perception.
Carlsbad, now 5-3 overall, has won three straight and is gaining momentum at a critical juncture in the season. Their victory over Alamogordo bolsters their district résumé and positions them favorably for playoff seeding, especially with a head-to-head win that could prove decisive in tiebreak scenarios.
Alamogordo, meanwhile, faces a must-win situation as they prepare to host Las Cruces on Thursday. With just two games remaining, the Tigers will need to regroup quickly to keep their postseason hopes alive and avoid slipping further in the rankings.

Sunny, with a high of 74 and low of 46 degrees. Sunny for the morning, clear in the afternoon and evening,

New sidewalks for some neighborhoods. What about the Walker area that is also in her district. Seeing is believing, Walker area has always been ignored.

Have you ever messaged her about it, or are you just complaining to complain? Her actions speak louder than all the other commissioners combined.

She championed and approved $12 million dollars worth of Water system upgrades for walker road and yet you choose to ignore that. It is in the design phase with contract bidding to be announed in early 2026 with work to begin in later spring. That is the largest capital investment in Walker Road in over 50 years.

      three responses:
"I cannot accept your canon that we are to judge Pope and King unlike other men, with a favorable presumption that they do no wrong. If there is any presumption, it is the other way against holders of power...power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." ~ Lord Acton

Did anyone see what Senator Charles Grassley is saying about AI yesterday. What does that have to do with this? It might explain why legal systems in many cities are such a mess.

But also: Why is no one talking about the DISMAL low income housing in Alamogordo, and the need to investigate what is going on in those places, and the lack of housing for homeless???????????

It is interesting as you delve into the family, business and indeed religious connections that are intertwined in city politics. Some folks have a whole lit of fleas scratching the dog.

Absolutely true lots of fleas itching the dog!!

I somehow got logged out without doing so since last time I was here. I wanted to view the Flickinger meeting on Facebook but cannot because my account was taken down. I do not attend these public events because of all the attempts to mess with my life already.

      two observations:

Absolutely. I would say those are conservative numbers at 1 in 40. The quickest way to become wealthy in America is to enter politics. I would say Miss McDonald is 1 in a 109. The family fun center fiasco is a true memorial to what nepotism and back room dealing will get you.

      PBS was relevant.

NPR and PBS were definitely relevant - which is precisely why the trump regime has scuttled them...we have truly entered the era of alternative "truth".
