The Alamogordo High School Class of 1975 returned home this week for a four-day reunion that blended nostalgia, community pride, and heartfelt reconnection. From band memories to street dancing, the celebration honored five decades of Tiger spirit and the enduring legacy of one of Alamogordo’s most iconic educators.

Reunion Highlights

September 25 kicked off with a special gathering of former band members and their beloved director Mr. Van Winkle, who met with alumni from 2–4 p.m. to reminisce about halftime shows, competitions, and the camaraderie forged through music. That evening, the entire class gathered at 575 Brewery from 6–10 p.m. for a casual mixer filled with laughter, local brews, and memory-sharing.

September 26 featured a lively street dance and dinner at the Flickinger Center from 5–10 p.m., followed by a late-night gathering at the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant Patio from 10 p.m. to midnight. A highlight of the evening was the appearance of Coach Bob Sepulveda, now 89, who mingled with former students and athletes. Sepulveda’s presence was met with smile and heartfelt stories, especially from those who ran track, played football, or were shaped by his mentorship during the early 1970s.

September 27 the class will have a more formal celebration with a dinner and dance at The Tea Shed from 6 p.m. to midnight. Reservations were required, and the event will feature a catered meal, live music, and a tribute. Stories of athletic triumphs, team victories, and classroom antics will continue to fill the air as classmates dance into the night.

September 28 will close the reunion with a farewell breakfast at The Desert Aire, where hugs, promises to stay in touch, and reflections on the weekend’s joy will mark a poignant end to the festivities.

Ernie Moya, reunion co-organizer and former football standout, was instrumental in coordinating logistics and outreach.

Margaret Montgomery helped manage reservations and communications, ensuring smooth transitions between venues.

Karen Kelley Bays, longtime class administrator, was recognized for her dedication to preserving alumni connections through Classreport.org.

Gregg Mann and Paul Luna were among the many classmates remembered and discussed for their contributions to athletics, civic life, and community service.

 Coach Sepulveda’s Enduring Legacy

Coach Sepulveda’s attendance was a powerful moment for many. His early coaching years with the Class of ’75 laid the foundation for New Mexico’s longest consecutive state track & field winning streak. His influence extended beyond athletics—instilling discipline, honor, and pride in generations of Tigers.

The Class of ’75 reunion wasn’t just a celebration—it was a reaffirmation of community, legacy, and the power of shared history. As classmates return to their lives across the country, the bonds forged in Alamogordo remain strong.
