The Alamogordo Tigers delivered a commanding performance under the Friday night lights, defeating Organ Mountain 34–14 in a spirited homecoming matchup that showcased grit, precision, and the leadership of quarterback Nate Best. With the win, the Tigers improve their record to 4–1 overall and 1–0 in district play, setting the stage for next week’s road test against Hobbs.
After a scoreless first quarter, Alamogordo found its rhythm in the second. Nate Best connected with Keaton Orona on a 5-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful extra point from kicker Moreno. Minutes later, QB Best broke through the Knights’ defense for an 11-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Tigers a 13–0 lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw Alamogordo extend its lead with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Best to Ethan Phoutthavong. Organ Mountain responded with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jaden Gonzales to Zeke Weir, but the Tigers held firm. Nathanael Cereceres powered through for a 1-yard touchdown run early in the fourth, and Moreno’s reliable foot added the extra point.
Organ Mountain narrowed the gap with a 3-yard touchdown run by Gonzales, but Alamogordo sealed the victory with Best’s third rushing touchdown of the night—a 1-yard dive into the end zone. Moreno’s final extra point brought the score to 34–14, where it remained as the clock ran out.
