Otero County LULAC Council #8105 attended the State Convention in Espanola. Local representation was by Joann Chavez Vullo, Linda Gonzales, and Stephanie DuBois.
The local Otero County LULAC Council #8105 was chosen to host the State Convention next year, June, 2026.
Local council president JoAnn C Vullo asked the Director, Mel Giron of District 3 Dona Ana and Luna Counties, to co-host.
Ms. Vullo sends warm wishes to their regional director, Richard Garcia, of Roswell, as he is battling cancer.
OCLULAC #8105 is also helping to organize a young adults' council in Las Cruces expanding outreach.
Stephanie DuBois was elected as Deputy Director of Elderly Programs. This first time that a representative from Otero County has been elected to the State Board of LULAC. Congratulations Stephanie DuBois on this milestone.
Ms. DuBois on her selection to the state board said, “I have been a member of LULAC since 2016 in the Roswell Council. I am now a participant of #8105. My decision to join was the organization's support for education. I was honored to be elected to serve as Deputy Director of Elderly Programs. I take my position on the NM LULAC board seriously and will do my best to further the work of this very fine organization.”
Roman Palomares, LULAC National President and Chairman along with his wife attended this state conference. Also in attendance were Senator Ben Ray Lujan and Lt. Governor Howie Morales.
Local citizens are invited to join as a member or an ally to Council #8105. This council is very involved in Tularosa with food needs for seniors and families. Council #8105 also helps the homeless in Alamogordo. As election season begins the council is doing voter registration drives in Mescalero, Tularosa, and Alamogordo.
