Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm Alamogordo will be one of 16 cities within New Mexico that will be hosting No Kings Day Protests. The No Kings Day Protest. Alamogordo has nearly 100 people signed up with more expected to attend.
Millions of people are set to rally across the nation in opposition to President Donald Trump’s extreme agenda and to counterprogram the military parade in Washington, D.C.
Dubbed “No Kings Day,” the over 2,000 planned demonstrations are set to kick off Saturday morning, June 14. The protests have been organized by hundreds of organizations and grass-roots groups, including the ACLU, Public Citizen, Indivisible and 50501.

Municipal leadership and elected government officials are encouraging respect for first amendment rights of protesters and civil conduct by protesters and those driving by or near the protest areas
Stephanie Hernandez the city of Alamogordo City Manager issied the following statement concerning Saturdays events...
"The City of Alamogordo supports the right to peaceful protest and encourages all citizens to exercise their First Amendment rights in a respectful and constructive manner. We are fortunate that our community has a strong history of peaceful and organized demonstrations, and we remain confident that this weekend will reflect that same spirit of civic engagement.
As is standard practice, our Police Department is typically notified of all protest activity and will monitor the situation to ensure public safety. While there may be an increased awareness, our goal remains to support peaceful assembly while protecting the rights and safety of all residents.
We respectfully remind all participants of a few important guidelines:
Please do not post signs on light poles or other city infrastructure.
Demonstrations should not obstruct traffic flow for the safety of both protestors and the general public.
Participants are asked to clean up after themselves and be mindful not to block others’ right to move freely in public spaces.
Regarding a statement or contact with Mr. Lucero, I will defer to Mayor Payne should she wish to speak directly or have someone from the City do so."
The Mayor of Alamogordo, Susan Payne spoke to Alamogordo Town News Commentator Anthony Lucero on Streaming KALHRadio.org. She reinforced the city's position of support of the right to assemble and protest but also reinforced a message of a need for civility, respect and tolerance. She asked that protesters and if any counter demonstrators show respect to each other and public property, to maintain order, dignity, respect and cleanliness of public spaces. A protest is also scheduled for Ruidoso. The Village of Ruidoso issued the following statement:
“We are aware that some community members are planning to participate in the No King’s Day protest tomorrow. We respect everyone’s constitutional right to peaceful assembly and free speech.
