Former Republican Party Chairman Cesar Ramos announces his candidacy for the office of Otero County Sherrif.
In an exclusive interview with AlamogordoTownNews.org on streaming KALHRadio.org Ramos explains his candidacy...
"I am running for sheriff because I am going to prioritize the people of Otero County and offer them an exceptional top notch law enforcement service which from what I understand is not being offered by the present sheriffs office."
Note Sheriff Black was elected with a platform of reform but diring his tenure the last 2 years the office has been embroiled in scandals and some say cover ups with the handling of the the Elijah Hadley murder by a deputy still on paid leave, and the most recent black eye of the city of Alamogordo withdrawing from the Regional Dispatch Authority under his leadership and direct control.
Ramos offers 34 years of experience with 3 in Naval law enforcement, 7 with the Department of Defense and 24 with the US Border Patrol.
Ramos is concerned with the flow of drugs into Otero County and suggests a plan to better collaborate with border patrol on the teamwork necessary to stem the drug flow.
Ramos is no fan of DWI Checkpoints unless they are consistent with the plain view doctrine and in an interview with Lucero explains an incident he personally was involved in which "turned into an ugly situation" to hear more about that incident and why Ramos stands for citizens and the bill of rights listen at
