The nationwide "Hands Off!" protest planned for April 5 is still growing across the country one day away from the event and also includes Alamogordo at 10th Street and White Sands Blvd on Saturday

The Alamogordo Police Department is on alert to ensure peaceful assembly. The city of Alamogordo, to ensure safety preemptively has moved mobile cameras into the intersection and is recording tonight, tomorrow during the protest and afterwards.

Americans, local in Otero County, around New Mexico, throughout the nation, and abroad, as well as citizens of other nations, who have been impacted by the decisions of the Trump White House—such as imposing mass tariffs, the stock market cratering in response to those tariffs, and cutting funds to USAID—are also taking to the streets.

Protests are planned in the United States at over 1000 cities and towns and internationally in Berlin, Frankfurt, Vienna, Brussels, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Lyon, Nice, Lisbon, and Guadalajara, as well as other locations.

Hands Off! stresses that they are a non-violent protest movement.

Their website states: "We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events."

The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) issued a formal call for civility and unity as the state braces for mass Hands Off anti-Trump protests planned for this weekend.

This formal statement comes in the wake of a firebombing at the RPNM headquarters in Albuquerque, and a series of harassing and threatening phone calls the Party has received per Mrs. Barela.

The RPNM claims it remains steadfast in its stance, promoting peace and constructive dialogue among New Mexicans.

“The Republican Party of New Mexico stands resolute in calling for all New Mexicans to rise above the division and unite in civility while exercising their First Amendment rights,” said RPNM Chairwoman Amy Barela.

The Democratic Party of New Mexico has issued the following statement condemning violence.  "The Democratic Party of New Mexico condemns the vandalism of the Republican Party of New Mexico headquarters as strongly as possible. We firmly maintain that this sort of act has absolutely no place in our Democracy, and that peaceful discourse and organization are the only ways to approach political differences in our country. We hope whoever is responsible is found and held accountable."

Otero County and most especially the intersection of 10th Street and White Sands Blvd. in Alamogordo, has a long history of peaceful assembly and protest. This intersection has hosted free speech and protest demonstrations for in excess of 100 years. The intersection was originally Pennsylvania Avenue and 10th Street at the city's founding and has always hosted the park and zoo areas a a focal point for the exercise of freedom of expression.

Most Alamogordan's respect the right of peaceful assembly and free speech. We encourage mutual respect by those with opposing views and a Saturday of peaceful free expression.
