CHRISTUS Health announced  that it has finalized an acquisition that will build upon a 30-year legacy of providing high-quality, compassionate and specialized orthopedic care to the southern New Mexico community.

CHRISTUS Health’s growth in New Mexico has been deliberate as we look for opportunities to expand, innovate and improve health care in the communities we serve,” said Micah Axton, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic chief operating officer. “We are proud to be able to provide patients with the high-quality, compassionate care they deserve close to home.”

Southern New Mexico Surgery Center is now CHRISTUS Surgery Center, specializing in orthopedic and podiatry care and located at 2301 Indian Wells Rd., Suite B, in Alamogordo. The three existing New Mexico Bone & Joint Institute clinics in Alamogordo, Las Cruces and Ruidoso are now part of CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic.

We have been fortunate to have worked closely with the Bone and Joint team of professionals and are thrilled to welcome them to the CHRISTUS family,” said Jim Heckert, outgoing CEO of CHRISTUS Southern New Mexico.

Patients who undergo treatment at the clinics or the surgery center will be seen by orthopedic experts and clinicians that are all dedicated to providing each patient with the most up-to-date and dignified care. Services include foot care, arthritis, joint replacement, ACL reconstruction, total ankle replacement, back pain osteoporosis, among others.

We are excited for this opportunity to join CHRISTUS Health,” said Dr. Douglas Dodson, orthopedic surgeon with Southern New Mexico Surgery Center. “We look forward to becoming a part of top-notch, patient-centered care with the growing CHRISTUS Health network.”
